Nancy Wittenberg

Nancy Wittenberg currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner of Climate and Environmental Management for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. In this capacity Ms. Wittenberg has responsibility for the programs that cover climate and energy coordination, air quality permitting and planning, radiation protection, release prevention, pollution prevention, quality assurance and solid and hazardous waste permitting and planning. This is Ms. Wittenberg's third "tour of duty" with the DEP having served as the Director of the Division of Environmental Quality in the early 1990s and as a hazardous waste permit writer before that. In between, Ms. Wittenberg worked in New York City for the Transit Authority and Bridge and Tunnel Authority and most recently for the New Jersey Builders Association. Ms. Wittenberg received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont and a Master's degree from Duke University.
