Bill Ahlert

Dr. Ahlert is a Vice President with HDR Engineers, Inc. and manages HDR' Bethlehem, PA operation. He received his Masters and Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Rutgers University. He routinely participates in state and regional focus groups and in a variety of forums designed to provide expert input on existing regulatory and brownfields related programs and on the issues of sustainable redevelopment. He has been overseeing the remediation and redevelopment of the former Bethlehem Steel facility in South Bethlehem that covers over 1,500 acres and working to incorporate sustainable concepts in to the remedial approach and the redevelopment process. The remediation of the Bethlehem site falls under the Pennsylvania's Act 2 program and EPA's RCRA program and Dr. Ahlert has been working very closely with representatives from both agencies to incorporate sustainable concepts into the final remedial design.
