NSCW 2011: A great success! |
Vision Statement
It is intended that this workshop will not simply add 'sustainability' to the list of issues related to Brownfields but will look deeply at the interconnections and confluences that make for creating sustainable communities through Brownfields redevelopment. Brownfields are uniquely suited to be a place for sustainable redevelopment to grow. The program for this workshop is intended to be one day of intensive, high energy exchanges between stakeholders sharing varied perspectives on the issues surrounding Brownfields and sustainability. Stakeholder perspectives that include real estate finance, government at all levels, corporations, community representatives, NGOs and consultants who provide a range of technical expertise will be invited to participate in interactive sessions that focus on best practices and the challenges to their implementation. The focus will be on problem-solving.
Join us for this unique conversation. This workshop will be run like no other you are used to. Powerpoint presentations are not allowed. All speakers limit their remarks so that there is plenty of time in each session for conversation between attendees, speakers, and moderators. Come with your ideas and questions!
The 2012 Northeast Sustainable Communities Workshop is being coordinated by the Brownfields Coalition of the Northeast. The Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast is an organization comprised of industries, regulatory agencies, and consultants who have formed a not-for-profit group to advance brownfield redevelopment in the Northeast. The Coalition provides education and networking opportunities at low cost to members of all sectors involved in the remediation, redevelopment, financing and conveyance of contaminated properties for reuse. The Coalition currently serves the region of the Northeast United States, with active membership in the following states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. For more information, including membership, please email Colleen Kokas at Colleen.Kokas@dep.state.nj.us.
